Civil-rights lawsuits are a key tool for holding the government accountable. If a police officer or a prison guard or even a county clerk violates your rights, you should be able to sue the government for redress. But the courts have developed rules—like qualified immunity—that make it hard for such lawsuits to succeed.

That’s where we come in. We work to reform the legal rules that shield police officers and other public servants from accountability.
